What is Fascia?
Fascia is a continuous network of connective tissue that connects and supports the musculoskeletal system, forms the structure and contour of the body and surrounds all of the muscle fibers, organs, nerves, and blood vessels of the body from head to toe without interruption. Healthy fascia is loose, fluid, and elasitc allowing movement with little or no resistance. Trauma, overuse, dehydration, and lack of movement due to sedentary lifestyle or compensation to injury can cause fascia to become tight, rigid, and less flexible forming adhesions or "knots." This fascial tension or adhesion limits movement, creates structural imbalance and also cuts off local blood and lymphatic circulation.

What is C.O.R.E Myofascial Integration
CORE Myofascial Integration is a myofascial therapy that works to achieve flexibility, efficient movement, and initiates body awareness and structural balance. This is done primarily through a technique called "myofascial spreading" in which sections of superficial fascia are carefully "spread apart" with either palms, fingers, knuckles or the back of the fist. This creates a heating effect (thixotrophy) on the superficial layers of tissue, which allows the therapist to gradually effect deeper tissues.

What is CORE 10 Session Structural Integration
This is a form of structural integration evolved from the pioneering work of Ida Rolf. The intent of this work is to achieve change in the skeletal structure through soft tissue reorganization, which will improve, breathing capacity, establish a balanced stance, and increase overall range of motion. This work also seeks to achieve inner structural balance of the client's legs, pelvis, back, neck and cranium, and to integrate the whole body with function creating increased somatic awareness.

What is Active Isolated Stretching
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a method of stretching developed by Aaron Mattes, kinesiotherapist and massage therapist. This method is widely used by doctors, physical therapists, athletic trainers and athletes to achieve optimal flexibility and range of motion, and is a great tool for maintaining movement and structural balance after receiving Myofascial Integration work.
